Welcome to my home page. I am a Research Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech, and I work in the Systems Software Research Group led by Prof. Binoy Ravindran.

I was a PhD student at the Department of Computer, Control and Management Engineering (DIS) of Sapienza University (Rome, Italy) and at Instituto Superior Técnico of the Universidade Técnica de Lisboa (Lisbon, Portugal).
My advisors were Prof. Francesco Quaglia and Prof. Paolo Romano.

My PhD dissertation with title Efficient Protocols for Replicated Transactional Systems focused on a core problem in computer engineering: how to make transactional systems fault-tolerant and, at the same time, efficient via replication techniques.
Although the issue of replication in transactional systems has been studied in literature since long time, some recent architectural trends (such as multi-core systems and SSD storage devices) and new scenarios of employment of transactional methods (such as transactional memory as opposed to DBMS transactions) have led most of the literature results in the area of transactional replication to become sub-optimal, or even no more applicable.
The dissertation focused precisely on these new trends/scenarios, proposing breakthrough solutions for the problem of replicating transactional systems, and it is the
award winner of the IEEE/IFIP William C. Carter PhD Dissertation Award in Dependability 2016.
